Practicing Solitude:

In the next few weeks depending on your schedule, set a time aside to do the following...

  • Set aside at least 4 hours, but preferable a day to practice solitude

  • Go to a place that isolates you from engaging with people and avoids distractions (hike, walk, beach, mountains, park...)

  • During the time/day find moments to be silent with God. Give space for God to connect with you. This may feel awkward or uncomfortable...give it time.

  • During the time/day read or listen to the Bible, listen to worship music, journal your thoughts. In addition to silence, do things that focus your mind on God.

Note: Solitude is a discipline that takes practice...so don’t give up after the first or second time. Schedule it at least every 3 months and let is become a rhythm in your life.
