Sabbath Elements:
Since we are so used to our full and fast-paced schedule, taking a sabbath can be difficult. A good sabbath consists of the following...
-
Resting your body – Taking time to get extra rest like sleeping in or napping
-
Resting your mind – Taking a break from normal activities like work related things, social media, phones, even news
-
Resting your spirit – Taking time to read your Bible, pray, or be silent in an unhurried manner
-
Enjoying God – Enjoying good food, enjoyable activities or hobbies, appreciating God’s creation and presence
Practicing Sabbath: Depending on your schedule, choose one day (or portion of a day) for each of the next three weeks to sabbath. Remember, we learn to sabbath by sabbathing. Give it time to become a regular rhythm in your life.
